Rabbit joins a White House Tribal Broadband Briefing.
A White House Tribal Broadband Briefing was held on February 18, 2022 and was designed to help Tribal Leaders identify funding opportunities for expanding broadband on Tribal Lands. A large cross-section of federal agencies participated in presentations. They included the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) ; Department of Transportation (DOT); Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); Economic Development Administration(EDA), to name a few!
The message to Tribal Nations was that there is an unprecedented amount of broadband funding for Indian County. The message from Tribal Leaders was to make it easier to access the funding and to distribute funding as soon as possible. Tribal Nations have particularly suffered from a lack of broadband access during the pandemic affecting every area of tribal life.
