Rabbit attends ITA Showcase

After a two year hiatus, the ITA Showcase Northwest reconvened in Portland for the last two days. ITA is an annual trade show put on by vendors to the telecommunications industry in Washington and Oregon. It is sponsored by the associate members of the Washington Independent Telephone Association (WITA) and the Oregon Telecommunications Association (OTA).

It was great to see old friends and business contacts. And to learn about new telecommunications products. The big take-away was the long lead-time for fiber cable. Like so many things right now, demand is far outstripping supply. And so much of the broadband funding has yet to awarded. When it is, the situation will be even more critical. For those who are planning fiber builds and waiting for grant awards, see if you can pre-order fiber. Another alternative is wireless deployment while you wait for fiber delivery.
